It makes little difference, most people opt for the sword because
the damage floor isn't as low as that of the axe. |

Here are some threads of interest regarding tanking in general that you may find useful:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=75416 http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=75885 I'd post more but the search button isn't working for me at the moment and this was all I could find. Hope it helps. |

I prefer sword with stances due to the fact ontop of whatever the stance bonus is, I can bleed/cripple/deep wound/final thrust him to add to whatever stance I go into.
Hammer for a disrupt build and knockdowns works fine. Also Axe is great for putting out damage if you like the axe cyclone-bonetti's griffon farm build. < I do! > =) My 2 cents. --The Shim |

When tanking, damage doesnt often come into it, but cyclone axe on big mobs is great adrenaline charging. I suppose earth shaker under dark fury might be worth something :S

If you are doing a proper stance tank, you don't really need a weapon. But, I normally use my Fellblade, as it adds 25 HP and Lengthens Cripple, which can be handy. You want to have as much HP as possible when Tanking.

Hands down sword, lot of good tatics specify "if holding a sword".
I Like to use my +5 energy sword 14-21 enchant 19%, Sundering 10/9( can't get this one anymore ), and a healing anhk from droknor's, +12 eng req 9 healing, amr +5 hp+45 while enchant'd. Keeps me around 575hp, with 2 peices of Glad's armor for an extra 5, for a total of 42 energy on a war, and if ya have a moral boost, it can get up to 55 or so. Granted the sword isn't max, it's not gold, etc but it sure does its job, the sundering more than makes up for the point lost, and if i have any enchanting spells on a +19% makes this a good weapon, and besides the point of tatics and stances doesn't really matter on a weapons hit values, just to be holding is good enuff. :::End Transmission::: |
